Typically, there are a few things that happen when you open a business.
1 - You employ people in your community
2 - You contribute to the local tax base, and to federal programs
3 - You provide (hopefully) a useful good or service to the community
4 - You make (if you're lucky) a profit.
Of these, or other possibilities I may not have thought of - what is the REASON to open a business?
