Taking a night school course right in intro photography, and we have an assignment where a reflector is required. Despite the fact the reflector use was demonstrated it was never truly explained. I love photography, bu the teacher sucks, as teaches like we all know what he is talking about, truly horrible and frustrating as I spent so much money on the camera and equipment I cannot drop the class.
can someone please help explain to me the correct usage for a reflector. The assignment is to take a pic of still life same pic with and without a reflector. I plan on shooting leaves or some type of seasonal fall still life.

I know there are different reflectors gold, silver, etc. . .what would be the best for a certain situation . . .once again never explained in class
