What is the point of discussing politics on Y!A?

I'm not going to change your mind, you're not going to change mine. Could it be that people, conservative and liberal, are so desperate to have their voice heard that we must resort to an internet forum where it is possible? Could it be that Democrats and Republicans both ignore or try to manipulate the population so much that we feel we must resort to this?

I thought I'd close on a more conciliatory note and quite honestly a real question. It's been fun, be safe.
