what is the perfect meal before sport?

my fitness level has always been good but i want 2 focus on my nutrition so i can go 2 the next level. what, and how long before i play football should i eat 2 give me the edge??? i need something that will fill me, give me energy and is healthy??? thankyou 4 any help.
 
yep that lady is right...carbs are key!!! all you use during a work out is carbs.....im a lazy yahoo contributor...but research glycemic foods....
 
Sushi is the perfect meal. I'm serious. Sushi is very healthy and tastes very good. Plus it won't make too much of a mess either. ^_^
 
Carbs are always key before a work out.
Obviously you should never eat right before - you'll get cramps.
But carbs (usually a good portion of pasta) is recommended
I always ate pasta as my last meal before a huge race for track - I always found the best benefits from it.
 
Where I live we have the Ironman (gruelling triathlon). My husband and friends all work in the restaurant business, and they've told me that the night before the triathlon all the athletes eat tons of carbs. Some have gone so far as to ask if they can order the pasta water along with their pasta dish. Most of those athletes have told me that they eat loads of carbs the night before (race starts at like 7am, goes all day) to stock up on energy. Seems to work for them, they should know as they train for the race all year.

pasta 2-3 hours before a game,and if you are still feeling hungry an hour or even a half hour before the game, have a banana or two
