This a children's chapter book about a woman, who was injured in an accident, who becomes pregnant with the help of a fairy. Her daughter has purple strands in her hair that she can use to make wishes. Near the end of the book, the girl goes to see a "fairy hive" and is almost hurt. I don't remember much more.

I read this book many years ago. Does anyone have an idea to what it is?
