What is the name of the bird wearing a coat and hat in Roman mythology?

I'm a bit fuzzy on the details of this, but all I know is that in some ancient mythology (Roman or Greek) there was a statue of a what appeared to be a bird (it had a very large beak) wearing a hat and some sort of trenchcoat. I seem to remember the teacher saying it was something called The Doctor but I could be mistaken. Any advice on what this is?
Love,
Ian
