The ONLY person I can think of that matches is Elizabeth David, I've just done a fairly comprehensive google search and was unable to find ANY vogue cooks of that era with the first name of Elizabeth other than her.
Many of the "Australian" writers of that time period were in fact British. The only thing that made them Australian was that their work was published in Australian magazines.
