What is the name of a book related to King Arthur? Please Help!?

There was a book that I read a long time ago that I no longer remember the name of. I would really like to know, any help is appreciated. It is about a little boy who wanders off, or something like that, and through fog or mist ends up in a cave where an old man and dog lives. The old man is actually King Arthur and the dog is Merlin, the old man tells him the stories of the Knights of the Round Table.
