what is the movie called for a small genius boy to go into harvard university ? please help?

I need help finding one of an old movie I have watched I think was released in 2000. The movie features of a mother who graduated from Stanford university and the boy who was young aged of around 6 years makes a promise to his mother of getting into Harvard university. later on the movie the boy's mother has a car accident and becomes traumatized as the mother has no longer have the mental capacity to think for herself the boy is left to take care of his mom, when the boy reaches high school he continues receiving high grades from school as a straight A student but can no longer take care of his mum and asked for a courts special permission to relinquish the mothers right to be his parent and to that the court granted permission he starts to move from different foster cares and parents but goes into a special high school he would never want to leave, and he stayed and graduated from that school. later on the movie he gets into Harvard and joins a very special family who helps him find his mum. so if you know the title of the movie please tell me! I really miss this film. thank you.
