what is the most effective way to work out at the gym?

ive recently joined the gym to lose some weight, keep fit and to tone up a bit and normally i start off on the bike, then treadmill, stepper, rowing machine then into the weight room to do some sit ups, weights, twists and some other machine that does your sides and another one that does bum and legs ( dunno names).

what do you think is a more effective way to work out? ie: what order should i do everything and for how long.

shall i do weight room first or warm up by doing the cardio then go to the weight room last like im doing at the moment?

any tips please :) thanks
