I offered $5000 for a car a dealer gave someone $3500 credit for on a trade-in. They declined the offer saying that the minimum they'd accept was $6000. The car has been on the lot for over 6 months. I asked the salesman what would probably happen to the car now. He said it would go to auction and fetch about $4000. Why did they reject my offer?
