What is the law? Knowledgeable answers only please.?
Here is the story. My x-boy friend (52) and daughter (16) had an altercation. He happened to slam a fuse box door on her hand(unsure if it was an accident or intentional) and in return she punched him. 10 months later, he and I are having this discussion and he says that if she ever lays a hand on him again, he would knock her out. This is my child and he is out the door now. My question is would he be liable to strike her if she punched him,( no she is not that strong) he is just very angry. Would he be in the wrong if he struck her back. She is still 16. He is an adult.

I am sure he is out of your life and would never return. No man should ever put their hands on your daughter regardless of what happened. He is the adult and should have enough respect and self control to know when to walk away or leave the relationship himself. If she is defending herself she has that right but if you guys have a history of them two going back and forth and you don't put him out, you will go to jail along with your ex-boyfriend. Tell your daughte should she see him outside the home to go into the opposite direction, something bad could happen, why chance it...

Yes he would and that would be considered assault on a minor and he could do time if you decide to take legal action against this. No matter who started it, he should not feel obligated to put his hands on a 16 y/o child. It's better to just WALK AWAY!

its got nothing to do if shes a minor, but i dont think she would considered one
either way he could get done for GBH and assult
if it was in self defence and it can be proven though the law will be way more leiniant

He would be liable for abuse on a minor - Spanking is one thing, punching her is another - He has no right to do such a thing even if she tried to punch him - She needs a " a talking to " by you - And so does he -
