What is the law about cops coming into your house while you are having a party?

Where I live, in Australia, I have stood in the doorway, and refused the police entry. Even though they tried to push past me, they did not gain entry. Unless they can prove a crime is being committed, they are not allowed into the premises, unless invited to do so. A complaint about noise is not a crime. If you have some one turn the music down as soon as the police turn up, then they have no right to enter the house.

it depends where u live , technically it is against civil rights to barge into somebody's house without anything the know for a fact that is going on illegally. but if they do wtf are we going to do about it? :\

if there is public entry into your house, like people who clearly aren't related to you, then they can come in freely. Especially if you are under age, because they have just cause to search the place. When they come to the door you can tell them that they don't have permission to enter without a warrant. But if they can see anything illegal from the door or windows then they can enter. Plus you run the risk of pissing them off so that when they do find something (or make up finding something) they will likely arrest you than just calling your parents or giving you a warrning. You can look it up to a more state specific thing, by going to the police website, or look up common law. Wikipedia, stuff like that.

If you are having a party that almost automatically gives police probable cause to enter the home. They do not have to have a warrant to enter the house.

they can some in if they suspect there is something illegal going on.

ex. you open a door and they see a bong lying around

or if they see underage drinking

hoped this helped
