This is a two part question.
1. We are looking to buy a 2010 Subaru Forester. The dealership (which received great customer service ratings on independent websites and we felt very comfortable when visiting - no pressure) has certain Foresters advertised on their websites at an internet price that - even after adding on the destination charge - is still about $200 below invoice. If the "invoice" price is what dealerships pay for the cars then how do they make money on this sale? Or is the invoice price something else? (and yes, they listed all the options and so I was able to compare apples to apples).
2. How does buying a car from a dealership over the internet work? Is it basically a committment to buy the car that's done on the internet, but then don't you have to go in in person to do the financing/payment and pick up the car? Or does everything get done electronically and the car gets delivered to you locally? I've only ever bought from a car lot before, so I am not clear on how buying that car from the dealership's internet site would work.
Thanks for your help.
