I had stitches for 12 days before they were removed. My neighbor (a medical asst.) told me that my wound was still open and gave me an antibiotic ointment to use. I have been cleaning my wound with mild soap and water and also hydrogen peroxide. I have noticed that there is a white gooey substance inside my wound that does not ooze or wash away. It just sits inside my wound and does not dry out. What is it? And what can I do to help my wound heal? Thanks.
