What is the easiest and cheapest way to create a sensor for an art installation?

I need to create an art installation and am thinking of using sensors, specifically touch sensors. I'm not tech-savvy & don't know any computer codes and all. I understand that to create a sensor, I need to have some knowledge of computer codes & all, but the thing is, I don't know anything about them.

So I'm wondering if there's any way that I can create a touch sensor without having to know computer codes & with the least cost? Basically, I'm thinking of something that triggers an image to flash on screen when someone touches it.

If it's impossible for me to create a touch sensor without having to know computer codes & with the least cost, would other sensors such as light, proximity or sound sensors be easy for someone without computer knowledge like me to create? If so, how do I create it and what should I get/buy?
