Take a measuring ruler or tape and measure the width of the opening on your trailer hitch. Most of them will be 2 inches.

You will need a trailer hitch to use a rack like that because that is what they attach to. The rack will slide into the hitch so you don't need the piece with the ball on it.

The Tribute will probably have a 1 1/4 hitch (Type II) on it. Bigger racks designed to hold 3+ bikes usually are designed for 2" racks that can handle more weight. 1 1/4' racks are usually just good for 2 bikes.

There are adapters (can order online or buy through U-Haul) that let you put a 2" rack into a 1 1/4" hitch, but you have to watch the weight limit.

2" hitches are better for bigger trailers, but you need the horsepower to tow them.

They must be talking about the size of trailer hitch racks. If you don't have a hitch, I would get a different kind of rack. A 2 inch rack is usually what's found on full size rigs while inch and a quarter are what people usually put on smaller vehicles. The tribute might be either, go measure it.
