Just wondering if anyone has had this happen before so when the mechanic tells me the figure i can know if im being swindled being female and not knowing anything about cars..
well what happened is i was driving and then i made a right turn and i heard a snap and the tire came off..not completely off its hanging onto some wire or something.. i dont know if this is the problem but the tow truck driver says it looks like ill have to replace the lower control arm bar (or something like that) and a CV ball or joint or something (dont know the lingo lol..) I'm sorry I hope this makes sense im confused..

To replace the cv joint, you can actually replace the whole cv axle with a reman for $200-250. The control arm, going with will add about another $200

shop around with independant mechanics, they are half the cost of the dealer. this is major work, I doubt the car is worth fixing , did you hit something hard. good luck
