If a "God" in the sense you're referring to (I'm assuming Abrahamic, may be wrong) exists, it think it would make more sense to be an "it."

I believe God is a power. It's the power of love and goodness. I think that by "humanizing" God - it's harder to see God for what I believe It to be - so I refer to God as "It" - because that's the proper pronoun for "power".

I would say 'He' because 'It' sounds alien to humanity. Also God suggests male or it would be Goddess.
