thats cos certain banks (eg lehmann) lend ppl money. the people who borrow the money have to pay it back with interest. in this way, the bank earns money. so, some banks became greedy and lent a lot of money. they are supposed to check whether the borrowers have stable incomes so they can pay back the money. the banks wanted to earn money quickly so they lent out a lot of it, without making sure that the borrowers could pay back. then the borrowers could not pay back the cash. the banks lost lots of money. many many many ppl invested in these banks and they too lost their money. becos of the huge amt of money lost, the world has gone into a financial crisis. to add to the chaos, prices of things have gone up everywhere in the world.
