A point of clarification: One author writes about the writings of a different author. In which literary genre does this type of book fall?
I was leaning towards critique but thought there might be a better word out there.

I don't really understand your question, to be honest. A collection, maybe? A collection is a compilation of different stories, poems, etc. of a certain author.
 
Umm if I underdtand you question correctly . If you have a specific book thats a genre or catgory it doesnt matter who the author is but you v=can search books bye authour but they might not all be in the same section unlees they are not category they are alphabetical.
