What is the best way to use an exercise bike?

I recently got an exercise bike because I don't really have alot of time to go to the gym etc. It's nothing too fancy but it has calories/pulse/time etc and different levels of difficulty. I tried using it but found I had no idea what I should be doing in terms of a regime and ended up just wearing myself out after a few minutes.

What would be the best routine/regime to follow? I'm pretty unfit so I need something that builds up gradually.

well use the lowest setting to start with then when you find your fine go to the next and then keep doing that, youll find youll be more fit as you go on
