What is the best way to study US American History?

Ok im taking AP US HISTORY next year. I have the textbook that will be used what is the best way to prepare. What is the best way to study history?
 
Read the book in sections. Keep up with dates, names, and events. I used to use a highlighter and make notes on the sides of the book pages. Start reading your book early and highlighting a few key words, people, or events. That subject is lots of fun
