I have a Troy Lee Designs dirt bike helmet that has seen better days. It looks absolutely terrible and I thought that I might just try and get it repainted in either flat black or flat white. It has a stock design with a clear coat on it, but I was told that all I need to do is use fine grit sand paper and scuff the clear and then just shoot the helmet. If you have experience with this, can you share some information? Such as what types of primers, paints or whatever else might be useful. I have done web searches and all I can find are companies who will paint it or people talking about painting their mountain bike helmets. I am poor and can not afford a new helmet, so that option is out.
