What is the best way to get purified water free of ammonia and chemicals for...

water boiled for 2 minutes is purified lololololol
but really reverse osmosis is ammonia free, if u have a swa the copper in distilled water will hurt ur inverts

...a fish tank? what does everyone use for water treatment, what is the best method.

i used to use reverse osmosis columns until i realized they did not give me ammonia free water. maybe they were just old, or just suck.

i found out about this ammoina remover, and also removed chlorinates, i see it does the job quite well. not bad.

i wanted to ask if i could just buy distilled water and add salt to it, if this would work.

how do you purify your water?

yes distilled water with salt would be fine I only use Prime to purify mine

The absolute best water you could possibly ever give to your fish...is rain water!
As for what I do, I use NovAqua. I like that electrolytes it adds, the extra boost for slime coat and that it tackles chlorine, chloramines, heavy metals, iodine's, and helps buffer ph.
But I imagine everyone has their fave brands for different reasons: )
