I have academic theatre experience and a small academic portfolio as a lighting designer, soundtrack designer, stage manager and costume designer in university productions, but most places seem to want professional experience and I have heard there is a bias against those with a college degree in the field. I am not confident that I know which path to take. What is a low level job I can start out in to cut my teeth in all three to find out where to go? Is volunteer community theatre a good place to start or a dead end?
What is the best way to get a job in theatre design? In general and in Las Vegas?
