What is the best software suite for authoring DVD (burning) movies?

I am currently using Roxio creator 2009. The encoding process to make the video playable in most DVD takes the longest time. Typicaly It takes roughly 50 minutes to encode. This doesn't include the burn to disc time. I'm guessing this is the case with Nero as well.
 
i have used Nero but i also find that Winavi seems to be pretty good but it all depends on what type of files you want to authorise??
