What is the best road bike to get that is £300, £400 or £500 max?
Brand names? What should I go for? Any ones to avoid?
Components? What should I look for? What to avoid?
Features? What is best?
Geometry? What do I look for?
Anything else?
I have a 20 year old heavy steel hybrid to go around the city which is okay as it doesn't get stolen but I'm looking for a road bike to have as well, for about 3 triathlons per year and fortnightly training rides in between.
I'd like to add that I'd like the road bike to be able to have mudguards and a back rack on for times when I go away. What do I need to look for in the specs for this?
Perhaps it would be better for me to get a cyclocross bike in order to have the lugs for these things? Would a cyclocross bike be alright for 3 triathlons a year?
