What is the best place to camp in Oregon?

I am looking to book a short camping trip this summer. I want a place at least an hour outside of Portland, further is great too. It must be a place that has Yurts, because I have no camping equipment and I'm an amateur. So, any recommendations? I have looked on a lot of websites and have read a lot about most places, so I'm looking for personal recommendations. Wallowa Lake is booked, and Crater Lake is a no-go. Any suggestions?

Why does it have to be a campground? Oregon is full of places to camp . Within an hour of portland? Try Scaponia Wayside. its on the Scappoose-vernonia road. Off on the left. Or just pick any logging road in the same area and go up it till you find a good place.
Saddle Mountain is close to portland. Nice place. no yurts though. Think North. Vancouver, the Lewis river.
Whatever you do, remember your fire saftey protocols.

I'd have to go to the beach at this time of year. They've got yurts at Honeyman State Park, and at Nehalem Bay, and at others. I liked both but Nehalem Bay was my favourite. It's got fly-in campsites for those with private aircraft, and ones where you can stable your horse if you want to bring it along to ride on the beach. Have you checked the Oregon State Parks website? There's a list there of campgrounds with yurts.

lake timothy is pretty cool if you like swimming (it's kind of cold) or hiking/bike riding, it's like 45 min to an hour out of portland
