What is the best photography printer for on-site printing?

I have a service that offers on-site printing. I recently purchased a Fujistu Ask-2000 dye sublimation thermal printer. It cost an arm and a leg. I don't know if it's really needed. I am printing out 6X8, and if want to do 8X10, the printer is 2400!!

I found the Canon Pixma Pro 9000 Mark II printer at a local photo shop for like 400 dollars! The speed is slightly less, but I am really trying to figure out why I bought that expensive printer again.

I need to be able to print out like 250-300 prints at an event, and which type of printer would you recommend considering purchase price, print quality, and overall ink costs over the life of the machine and business. I already understand there is little print different. The Canon inkjet uses pigment based ink instead of dye or thermal, which supposedly has longer lasting print quality.

What am I missing here? I'd really appreciate your insight.

Thanks!
