MICHIGAN this time of year? Here is what the DNR report says:
We have reports of good panfish action with limits caught on several lakes in the region. Most are using teardrops with wax worms or spikes. Pike fishing has been good for those using tip-ups with large minnows.
St. Joseph River - The river levels are almost back to normal (for the winter). Anglers continue to make decent catches of steelhead when using spawn or running crank baits. As of this report, there are still several boat launches open and very few ice flows. Some ice is beginning to develop along the shoreline however the river remains very fishable for both boat and shore anglers.
What is a teardrop bait? And are minnows still a good idea this time of year? I don't ice fish but the rivers still aren't frozen so I can fish there. Also, how exactly do you hook a spawn bag? And what types of fish are you most likely to catch this time of year in my area (or the midwest in general)?
THANKS for your help! Sorry for all the questions!
