I understand that a book should take up enough space for the plot and idea to grow but I'm curious...

What is the most common range for first time authors?
Word count or Page count would be highly appreciated.

Thanks to anyone who answers. :D

It doesn't matter. The story just has to be quality. Some adult books are like 100 pages or less, some kids books are more than 300 pages. It depends on the type of story, and your target audience, and the font size as well. I don't like setting "restrictions" because that limits your creativity. Do what you feel is enough for your story.

A novel is generally considered to be something around 45,000 to 50,000 words long as a median. This is generally at Times New Roman 12 point font with one inch margins.
