I'm looking for an over-drive pedal that can produce a clean plexi tone like overdrive. Not for heavey metal distored style over-drive, but more of a jazzy-fusion like overdrive. Thick John Scofield and Bill Frissell style tone. I was recomended the Maxon SM-9 (with the drive/gain set low), the Xotic BB pre amp, and the Way Huge Pork Loin. I don't want to buy a new amp just for the plexi tone. How could I get that tone by say, utilizing an equalizer and scooping out the midrange? Any suggestions?
