REI has top quality items, although somewhat expensive, it is defiantly worth it. They have a wide variety of choices to choose from and the employees are always willing to help.
Joe's Sporting Goods is great if you want a kayak. They have a lot more selection on the 'extreme sports' field. They also have extremely helpful employees.
