what is the best color to paint my room?

My room is fairly big, i have A LOT of free wall space...my bed and desk are a light tan, and my cabinet and bookshelf are dark blue (on both is the painting Starry Night by Van Gogh), i was thinking eaither a bright yellow or light charcol color? (2 opposites i know...) so which would be better?
 
I think you should do light charcoal with light blue trim... it would be gorgeous and sophisticated! + it would go well with your bookshelf things..
 
Four different colors would be super cool! I wish i could but no my dad says only two.
If you can only do two than pick a mellow yellow and a dark blue
Dark blue and gray looks depressing and can actually effect your mood.
