What is the best beginner image editing program for Mac computers?

All im trying to do is put cool effects, and some words into my pictures. im not quite sure which program to use, any help is appreciated
 
you can go to downloads.com which is also known as cnet.com and find some cool programs there for your mac some are free to download but they give you a variety of programs for what you need give it a shot i go there for my programs hers the link good luck...just copy and paste to your search engine
