I recently installed an remote start, then suddenly my battery was completely dead a week later, I replaced the battery and had the car tested and it turns out there is a power drain on the battery when the car is off, the guys at Advanced Auto Parts said that it was probably the remote start sucking power when the car was off, so I went back to the remote start place and they said the drain wasn't the remote start, they unplugged the "backup" fuse and the drain disappeared, does anyone know what the backup fuse is for???

HI
its for the back up lights and maybe something else some times they combine fuse links.
any car that has a computer, a clock (in the radio) or just a radio it well have a slight drain ... as they are always on that's how the keep time, and hold your preset station's.
I say have them unplug the remote start and see if the drain stops too.
good luck
