Back in 2004 I separated from my ex husband & moved back to Arkansas. Once I got back here, I found out that I had some hot checks from when we lived here before that the ex never took care of. I called about them & went to take care of them. There were 3 & I took care of 2 of them, but when I called about the 3rd one I was told there was no record of it. I tried calling 2 or 3 times after the first call to them because at that time I was ready to move on from my ex and past so I was ready to pay off any debts that I had. Every time I called I was told there was NO record of a hot check. I ended up moving to the city where the hot check was written and lived there for almost 4 years. I even had a fender bender in that city & had my DL ran & nothing ever came up therefore I never thought about it again. Flash forward to a month ago (2009) when I had my DL ran again only to find out I had a warrant for my arrest for a hot check from 2004! I had to bail out & go to court this Thursday. When I called about the check, I was told that yes there is a check from 2004 & I had a court date that I did not attend so now I have the hot check & failure to appear on my record. I explained to them what had happened & asked why almost 5 years later this is coming up only to be told I just had to go to court and talk to the judge. I am needing to know if anyone has any advice or information for me. All of this is from Sherwood, AR and I have heard the judge there isn't easy to deal with. So any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
