I sustained and was diagnosed with a mild TBI from an RPG in Iraq earlier this year. I was documented to be 10-20 feet from the blast. I have documented symptoms from the time of the initial blast and still have symptoms to this day. I received treatment in theater and am still currently receiving treatment back at home station. My co-worker told me that it constitutes for a purple heart; however, I have only been able to find information from the Army, Marines, and Navy on clarification for this medal. I have had no such luck finding anything from the Air Force. Does anyone know where information on this is and if my situation qualifies? Also, what are the steps I would need to take to be awarded this medal? Thank you in advance for your help.
