I am going to go hiking this Tuesday in southern California. I have done light hiking before, but never anything like this---I don't know the name of the trail, but it is supposed to be about a 3-4 hour hike, so it's a big step up from what I'm used to. I have good hiking shoes, and thick wool socks, but as far as other clothing goes, I don't know what to wear. My friend told me to wear layers that I can easily take off as the weather gets warmer (we are starting early in the morning), but that's so general that I don't know what to make of that. I was kind of thinking that convertible pants would be good, but I'm not entirely sure. What do you guys think is the right things to wear while hiking?
