What is pop-art and pop-culture?

I have 8 piece of GCSE homework to do over the 7 week holidays but i don't know what pop-art and pop-culture is. I though pop-art was something done in the 1960 but it looks like we have to do it from recent years, so what would that be?
Does anyone have any examples of this?
