fault with the door.? We purchased a car which is just over 2 years old, but it has a problem with the driver's door which does not want to shut on frosty mornings (it opens fine, but it just does not want to shut, it swings open and takes 20 to 30 minutes before you can actually shut it). It has only been light frost so far and we dread to think what it is going to be like in middle of winter. The response we got from the dealer is to have a coffee while running the car and waiting for the door mechanism to defrost - apparently this is something that happens to most cars. Surely this can not be acceptable on any 2 year old car. What is our legal right in this case?

No this does not happen to most cars. I've never had a car do this. Have the mechanics break the door down & lube it with the correct grease. Tell em' to do it or call the manufacturer. Don't take their crap. It should still be under warranty. On the rubber seals around the door, use silicone lubricant not any petroleum based goop. Oil & WD40 break down rubber.

If you bought the car "as is", then you have no "legal right". If you want it fixed, you pay to fix it. If it's only 2 years old, most vehicles have at least a 3-year factory warranty. Take it to a dealer and have them fix it.
