you cut up a piece of paper, trace it, then do the same thing again (without cutting it), but the new thing you traced has to fit perfectly into another place somewhere on the traced paper. Also you have to use every piece of paper you cut off and put it somewhere on the paper you are tracing.
 
o i know this. it is called a tesselation. i did that for a math project last week. they look so cool.
 
I just taught my daughter this type of design method, something I learned from back in 6th grade.
