What is it about the Arizona immigration law that has people so up in arms?

If you actually read the law it's a mirror of the federal law--and essentially is the same law that california has had on the books for over a decade. Is the issue that has people up in arms with this law the fact that the State of Arizona actually has the temerity to plan on enforcing the law?

Under no circumstances does this promote racial profiling, the facts are that the mexican border is right around the corner, therefore germans, swedish, canadians are not gonna be the ones being caught, maybe a moronic middle east person might try to sneak in through this means, several of the answers are correct it relies on federal laws (already) in practice. Also the law relies heavily on probable cause, are there police officers that do bad stops, well of course, that is why we have judicial systems and oversight that keep these people in line. If an illegal is caught by racial profiling with no probable cause I'm sure this person would be extradited, however, the police officer would be held accountable for an improper stop. To answer your question, the administration ie Obama and his thugs know that the next election may not be locked in for them so they need every vote so any common sense laws on immigration, environment, any one who expects a hand out from the govt is the audience he is playing to because the moderates, the tea party and republicans are gearing up to defeat him. Furthermore this law is written very well, the question should be how can an American President boldly lie and intentionally undermine a lawful law accepted by the people of Arizona, if in fact he has issues he should have a constitutional inquiry but he won't be cause the law cannot be questioned because it exceptionally written and follows fedral laws already accepted

Because conservative jackasses need to get a damn life and worry about themselves. An illegal isn't going to touch you - they are as much as a human being as anyone else.
