I've looked at a few indie photography groups and blogs and I don't get it. Most of what I see would have previously been culled and classified as rejects. I don't believe you need to follow any rules for composition or even exposure if the end result is pleasing, but the only thing unifying "indie" into a cohesive class of photography is the images don't fit in with anything else. The reason seems to be that the "photographers" do not know what they are doing and occasionally have a happy accident.
What am I missing?
