Why are politicians, the current government and the Presidential candidates sitting back and letting the gas prices continue to skyrocket when it's obvious if this continues - our economy is headed for the biggest crash ever??? They come up with these little ideas to reduce the prices by a few cents per gallon - but no one has any ideas and no one is taking any kind of action at all. WHY????? Are they waiting for the average person to quit their job because the cost of gas will outstrip the value of working at all? I mean really - if I'm paying $500/per month to get to work and by the end of the summer I'm paying $1000/mo to get to work and I earn about $1400 per mo - there is no sense in working. I have only heard Obama and Hillary critcize the President over the gas tax and the oil reserve thing - but they have nothing to say about what THEY CAN DO. McCain has ideas but NO PLANS. Why is everyone just going on like it's going to be okay?
Is it because the very rich are not affected yet at all and are in control of politics - is it really that bad??? I haven't noticed anyone even changing their driving habits - leadfoot, competitive driving increases your gas usage by 10-20%. Most people I know aren't even talking about it like they even care. The average person in a situation like this is not going to just be able to find a GREAT job really close to home because they want one. It's not that easy to find work at all right now. It's not just a crunch for alot of people - it's going to wipe them out. We're looking at MASS bankruptcy of responsible people on trying to pay basic monthly utility bills and the cost of living - not just some people who had subprime loans!
Any ideas on how to survive longer? Everyone is going to end up in the welfare line and the government will be able to do nothing.
Boy it burns me up - of all the millions of dollars going into these politicians coffers to promote themselves and they care nothing except about their own campaign and until it affects the very rich in a serious way - like themselves - they won't care at all.
