David Brooks some columnist from NYC wrote a really stupid column making a comparison between new wave idol Elvis Costello and sophmoric writer and comedian barely out the MTV stage Tina fey. Please read it. It makes no sense what-so-ever. I really have no clue as to how much experience he has in British culture or what he knows or British music. On top of that he really wrote about these 2 people. Who are about as similar as the closeness of the sun to the moon. Write him back and tell him his column is a piece of trash. He may have even insulted Ms. Fey and Mr. Costello. Please read my rebuttal to him and give me your thots.

Perhaps he looks like a geek or a nerd. And his mixed up column with references to President Bush, Senator Obama and the Republican party. But as they say that is neither here or nor there. My rebuttal is really in defense of Elvis Costello. Without using a "crystal ball" I dare say that he probably never even interviewed Mr. Costello or Ms. Fey. Any school boy that grew up with me when I lived in East Anglia with lots more sense than Mr. Brooks (who is pretty limited in my book) knows Elvis Costello was, is not now and never will be a geek or nerd. Where did you get your information Mr. Brooks? I grew up in Great Britain in high school and lived there for a couple of years. It was my dumb, half-wit and twit compatriots in America that were copying the new wave scene. After new wave had cooled off and the new wave fashions then Americans started picking it up. About Tina Fey. Ms. Fey wasn't even born anywhere in the time frame of Mr. Costello. Why didn't you use someone closer to her generation. If anything you may have insulted her. Because maybe she wasn't even trying to copy or look like Mr. Costello. Which brings up another point. I use to also live on the west coast in Seattle and Tacoma. During the time Bill Gates was working on the future of the computer and Mr. Cobain started the "Grunge Rock" scene. I guess I am fishing like you are or were with your writing about geeks and nerds. BTW geek and nerd is purely "americana" I consider you a moron for trying to label a major British Icon a geek or nerd. You can call Tina Fey an American anything you'd like. But as the kids say. Don't get it twisted. Out of curiosity why did you not use Thomas Dolby? In a word your column "sucks." LIke TLC said stick to the rivers and the lakes that you are use to. Live the big pond and ocean alone. If your column reads this bad than I'll probably buy your book and burn it. Because I am sure it will serve a higher purpose as kindling. BTW evidently your parents dropped you on your head at birth (your big forehead) and you've never come back to reality. Nobody is saying that to be a conservative (or geek or nerd as you yanks say) or a liberal (radical or enlightened) or IMO ( middle of the road) or whatever is not cool also spelled KOOL. Be who you are. Maybe you should write about that being who you are? Senator Obama got it right. Perhaps your the one that is off track
