what is cricket

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8100/4.2.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Just cause its new in Houston doesn't make them a new company. Cricket has been around for the better part of a decade

Go to Pittsburgh you'll see what cricket is.........Its has captured the market there.....where there's cricket there's almost no prepaid market from what I've found out......VM, To-GO, Go Phone, In Pulse they all struggle in Cricket Markets like Pittsburgh, only Boost is worth anything bc of the DC.

I'm thinking about getting Cricket when it comes to San Diego on Dec. 6, The only thing is when I do some research I cant really find anything thats bad about it. The website doest say what the Faults are when you make a call outside their calling area. I mean come on Ulimited everything with no strings attached, theres got to be something there that when you mess up they lay the Smack Down. Also I wanted to know what Network do they run off of? I'm thinkin GSM but i could be wrong.

Is there anyone out there that knows the pros and cons of the Cricket service and can give the 411 on it.

Though I am Finaly glad to see that a Cell company is comming out with Unlimited everything and may start to give the Other Cell phone companys a run for there Money. :)

no cricket is CDMA, and the only con i can really think of is the limited calling area. there isn't really anything to "mess up" cust. serv. isn't great, but what cell companys' is?
if you mean for a call when you leave your area, that cannot happen (no signal) UNLESS you have travel time then its just taken from your prepaid mins. but if you mean SD to NY (for ex.) there is no change it is still unlimited mins

As a result of the "No Contracts, Ever" there is no discount on any phone you buy from them. This is not a huge deal but it can prevent some people from getting the top of the line phone that they might want.

a lot of people seem to have a problem with this: if you don't pay your bill the phone gets shut off. no grace period. once you pay it(within 30 days) it turns back on, and regular billing resumes. this is not prepaid so your next bill is due the same date, you don't get a month from when you pay it.

but as long as you pay your bill on time you're cool. there is nothing tricky about this. it really is unlimited.

there's a lot of confusion on when you get shut off exactly, or rather, on when your bill is actually due. this is because cricket throws out a lot of days as your "due date". text notification says one thing, apl says something else, and HO says another thing. but it disconnects you at the beginning of the next billing cycle, which is the same date used for prorating feature additions and removals etc.. this is two days after the date printed on you paper bill, or one day after the date in a text message. i rarely encounter anyone who stays on longer than this. what won't happen: your service will not stay on for another month with cricket hoping you pay double next time. there are some exceptions, of course, but i wouldn't rely on them, or complain if you get shut off.

Well that Kinda Sucks but I guess ulimited means Unlimited limits.

I travel From San Diego to LA and Tiajuana all the time so i hooked up with Cingular, When I go south of the Border the service turns into the Mexican Cingular... Tel Cel :). Its nice not even payin extra for the service

I don't know how or why people have so much trouble paying their Cricket bill. I hear them arguing about their bill all the time at the local dealerships.

Just make sure you know how your account is set up and pay it on time. It's that easy. How hard could it be?

Some people when it comes to responsibility, though... :befuddled

if you want unlimited nationwide there ampd and sprint, but it's gonna cost you a whole lot more.

Also I suspect that Cricket will penetrate a good deal into TJ as there are a lot of people that live on one side of the border and work on the other. And borders aren't really effective at stopping radio signals.

Cricket really does offer unlimited everything with no strings attached. How they do it, you ask? Phone prices. the razr is $300. there is no contract. they get your money with the phones and then the inexpensive service. btw, I'm not putting them down.. I have them and I'm happy. It's just how it works.

I'm not really sure about cricket... so if i'm in the San Diego market and I travel to northern CA... will it be included in the unlimited minutes? Also, what happens if I travel to say, Florida? Will i have service?
