I recently started a salt aquarium (fish, live rock no coral) and have had a lot of problems. Now i've decided to let it sit for a good while after a bad case if Ich from a clownfish. Here is my problem, the lady at the store, sold me an anemone then a couple of weeks later my husband brought home a CCstarfish. Now, if i'm reading correctly, the chocolate chip starfish will eat my anemone (he hasn't in almost 2 weeks of being together) but not to say he won't. and I noticed today, my cleaner shrimp (skunk) is gone. Do you think he ate him?
All that is in the 40 gal tank now is the BTAnemone, 1 turbo snail, several hermits, blue-green chromis damsel and the Chocolate Chip star. I'm waiting 2 weeks before doing anything since we had ich that killed the clownfish and sailfin. Should i remove the starfish if I want to get another clearn shrimp and some more fish? I wasn't aware it wasn't compatible and am now wondering the best environment for my anemone. (Lighting is 50/50 but we have T-5 HO on the way) and salinity is 1.23 to 1.25, PH is 8.2, NO ammonia or nitrites and nitrates flux between 5 and 10 ppm. I'm new at this but I really love my BTA and don't want to lose it.... Everyone has different opinions but I want to know what is best for my BTA and if there is a starfish compatible w/ a BTA?
