I keep getting a code of P0442 on my scanner and it has detected a small EVAP leak in my vehicle. I replaced the gas cap and cleared the code. The service engine light came back on again and the code is still the same. I had a good mechanic who knows GM vehicles inside and out check the entire fuel system lines,hoses,filler neck, vent and can't find any obvious problems. I can also smell gas fumes sometimes only when going up a hill when under load not towing a trailer. The truck is mechanically sound but this persistant EVAP problem is driving me nuts. The truck most likely won't pass an emissions test. I can't afford another vehicle right now. Any thoughts of what else may be going on?
